Messy Victories

A STORY OF ALLOWING GRIEF, PURSING JOY, AND ROLLING FORWARD

I did.
His name is Jason Hall, and this is our story.

Would you marry someone in a wheelchair?

Everyone knew Jason’s disability.
He lived almost thirty-three years in a wheelchair.

They all saw our hardships and hospital stays and barriers and obstacles. But the longer we lived, the more we understood that everyone has something.

Everyone has a struggle to overcome.
A heartbreak to heal.
A tragedy to bear.
A loss to feel deeply.
A chance to persevere.

We tried not to compare our pain with anyone else’s. Everyone has to do the tough stuff.

We started writing this book together

It was mostly his story but I was there, too.
Side by side.

Planning and laughing and arguing about the best stories to tell.
Remembering and thinking about what we have learned in life.
Deciding the purpose. Focusing in on the message.

And then Jason died.
This is our story.

It’s full of people and moments that taught us things.
We invite you to take it in.

Because we want you to become a part of our story too.

What a beautiful, inspiring, uplifting book.

Testimonial

We recently went on a two week vacation with 2 of our teenage kids.
This book went too and we read it in the car on long drives, in hotels between Kansas City and Seattle. We laughed and cried. I knew it’s a great book when my kids would ask me read it each night before we slept. Beautifully written and captivating from start to finish.
